“Quid Pro Quo”

“Quid pro Quo” es un programa de exposición y debates que traslada al espectador a una hipotética bifurcación entre tecnología y humanidad. Durante el mes de abril la Sala Amarika de Vitoria-Gasteiz expondrá una mezcla de obras artísticas y prototipos científicos y albergará un debate entre pensadores, creadores e investigadores para desgranar algunas implicaciones de esta transición acelerada del presente al futuro digital.
Vivimos tiempos fascinantes en que la humanidad ha alcanzado un potencial sin precedentes. La comunicación global e instantánea ha abierto las puertas a nuevas formas de “socialidad” independientes del mundo físico, que multiplican nuestras capacidades individuales y colectivas.
Vivimos tiempos acelerados en que lo imposible es temporal. Cada día amanecemos con un nuevo producto o una nueva aplicación que podría cambiarlo todo. El potencial de la tecnología es deslumbrante, porque nos trae y nos conecta a infinidad de mundos instantáneos.
Son tiempos anómalos en que la innovación tecnológica es un credo y su adopción es fetichista. Han bastado dos décadas de evangelización tecnológica para que todos las adoremos. Y hoy las incubamos y enaltecemos en cada rincón de nuestras vidas. Además su instalación es automática… Ni firmar garantías, ni leer instrucciones, y mucho menos atender a esas clausulas crípticas de consentimiento en letra pequeña, basta con “tiquearlas” para pasar de pantalla.
Y así la implantación masiva de tecnologías lo ha cambiado todo; con sus aplicaciones hemos virtualizado la calle, los negocios, los encuentros, los datos, e incluso nuestra identidad. Cambia el concepto de espacio público, de comunidad, de presencia, de relación, de intimidad... Posiblemente estemos viviendo una transformación más esencial de lo que somos conscientes, quizás incluso estemos modificando lo que significa ser humano.
¿Podría ser que perdamos tanto como ganamos? Quizás todo necesite ser repensado. Pero todo esto es demasiado nuevo, la red es inabarcable, la tecnología es compleja e incluso los términos son demasiado sofisticada para un debate comprehensivo.
La exposición “Quid pro Quo” explora lo que significa ser humano en el XXI. Se inaugura el próximo 31 de marzo, con una visita guiada por la obra expuesta en la Sala Amarika. Los debates tendrán lugar cada jueves durante todo el mes de abril, a partir de las 19.00 y se abrirán con una presentación de los autores de las obras y prototipos expuestos.

Quid pro Quo erakusketa eta eztabaida programa da, eta teknologiaren eta gizateriaren arteko alegiazko bidegurutzera eramaten du ikuslea.Gasteizko Amarica aretoan, obra artistiko eta prototipo zientifikoen nahasketa ikusteko aukera izango da apirilean, eta zenbait pentsalari, sortzaile eta ikerlariren arteko eztabaidak ere izango dira, orainalditik etorkizun digitalerako trantsizio azeleratu honek izango dituen ondorioetako batzuk azaltzeko.
Garai zoragarriak ari gara bizitzen, zeinetan gizateriak aurrekaririk gabeko ahalmena eskuratu duen. Komunikazio global eta berehalakoak inguru fisikotik aparteko “sozialtasun” forma berriei ireki dizkie ateak , eta horiek biderkatu egiten dituzte gure gaitasun indibidualak eta kolektiboak.
Garia azeleratuetan bizi gara, ezinezkoa behin-behinekoa den garaietan. Egunero agertzen da guztia alda lezakeen produktu edo aplikazio berriren bat. Teknologiaren ahalmena liluragarria da, berehalako makina bat mundu ekarri, eta haietara konektatzen gaituelako.
Ezohiko garaiak dira, zeinetan berrikuntza teknologikoa kredoa izan eta hura gure egitea fetixista den. Nahikoak izan dira ebanjelizazio teknologikoko bi hamarkada, guztiok teknologia gurtu dezagun. Eta gaur egun, gure bizitzako txoko guztietan inkubatzen eta goraipatzen dugu. Eta gainera, automatikoki instalatzen da… Ez dago bermerik sinatu beharrik, ez jarraibideak irakurri beharrik, eta, are gutxiago, baimena emateko balio duten letra txikiz idatzitako klausula ilun horiek ulertu beharrik; nahikoa da laukitxoak markatu eta pantailaz pasatzearekin.
Eta hala, guztia aldatu du teknologia ugari horren ezarpenak; kalea, negozioak, topaketak, datuak eta gure nortasuna ere birtualizatu ditugu, teknologiaren aplikazioekin. Eremu publikoa, komunitatea, aurrez aurre egotea, harremana, intimitatea kontzeptuak eta abar aldatu egin dira. Seguruenera, jabetzen garen baino aldaketa funtsezkoagoa ariko gara bizitzen; agian, gizon-emakume izatea ere aldatzen ariko gara.
Baliteke irabazi dugun beste galdu izana? Beharbada, berriz pentsatu beharko dugu guztia. Baina hori guztia berriegia da, ezin dugu sare guztia gure baitan hartu, teknologia konplexua da, eta terminoak ere sofistikatuegiak dira, eztabaida ulergarria izateko.
Quid pro Quo erakusketak XXI. mendean gizon-emakume izateak zer esan nahi duen esploratzen du. Datorren martxoaren 31n emango zaio hasiera, Amarica aretoan ikusgai dagoen obrari bisita gidatua eginez.Eztabaidak apirileko ostegunetan izango dira, arratsaldeko 19:00etan. Obra egileen eta ikusgai dauden prototipoen aurkezpena egingo da eztabaiden hasieran.

“Quid Pro Quo”

"Quid Pro Quo" is an exhibition and discussion program that moves the viewer through a hypothetical diversification between technology and humanity. During April the exhibition space Amarika located in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) will showcase a blend of artistic and scientific prototypes and will host debates between thinkers, creators and researchers to pinpoint some implications of this accelerated transition from the present into the digital future.
We live in exciting times where humanity is presented with infinite possibilities for the first time. The global spread of instantaneous communications technology has opened doors to new modes of "sociality" independent of the physical world that multiply our individual and collective capacities.
We live in accelerated times where the impossible is only temporary. Each day dawns with a new product or new applications that could change everything. The potential of technology is amazing because it presents, and connects us to, infinite instantaneous worlds.
They are anomalous times where technological innovation is a creed and its adoption is fetishistic. It took about two decades of technological evangelism for all of us to worship it. Today we incubate it and we enhance it in every corner of our lives. Moreover, it is accepted automatically ... We are no longer required to sign guarantees or read instructions, much less spend time deciphering cryptic consent clauses in small print, it is enough to "tick the boxes" and move swiftly to the next screen.
And so the widespread acceptance of technology has changed everything, with its applications we have virtualized the streets, businesses, meetings, data, and even our identities. It has changed the concept of public space, community, appearance, relationships, intimacy ... Perhaps we are living a more fundamental transformation than we are aware, but perhaps we are even changing the meaning of being human.
Could it be that we lose as much as we win? Maybe everything needs to be rethought. But this is all too new, the network is infinite, the technology is complex, and even the terms are too sophisticated for a comprehensive debate.
The exhibition "Quid Pro Quo" explores what it means to be human in the XXI century, opening on March 31 with a guided tour of the work showcased in the gallery space Amarika. Discussions will be held every Thursday throughout the month of April, from 7 pm and will begin with a presentation by the creators of the works and prototypes on display.
